Kasey “DJWHAT!” Lucas — Founder & Director
Kasey is the creator and driving force behind The DJWHAT! Music Initiative. A lifelong performer, he began his professional journey at just 4 years old as a singer, musician, and later a DJ — experiences that shaped his passion for helping artists find the support he didn’t always have growing up.
What started as his mission to build a home for live music has grown into a full movement dedicated to empowering rising talent and strengthening the arts community. Kasey oversees all operations of DMI, from programming and events to partnerships and development, ensuring artists feel supported, valued, and seen. His purpose is simple: create opportunities, open doors, and uplift performers of all backgrounds.
Lisa Lucas – Board Member
Lisa plays a key leadership role within DMI, bringing organization, communication, and structure to the work we do. She oversees critical administrative tasks, manages documentation, and helps coordinate sponsorships and community outreach. Lisa keeps the organization connected, prepared, and responsive — ensuring that ideas turn into action and that DMI operates with clarity and professionalism.
With a practical mindset and a strong sense of what the community needs, she helps guide decision-making and keeps the mission aligned with real-world impact. Her ability to support operations while staying focused on people makes her an essential part of DMI’s growth and long-term sustainability.
Almonte “Cheese” Bernard – Board Member
Almonte serves as DMI’s bridge to the community — a connector, communicator, and voice of the people. Deeply rooted in the culture and relationships of the area, he understands the real needs of artists, neighbors, and community members. His insight helps ensure that DMI’s programs and decisions stay aligned with what truly matters on the ground.
Almonte brings strong relationships, access to key resources, and a deep network that keeps DMI connected to the right people at the right time. His perspective, creativity, and connections make him a vital part of DMI’s growth and a key driver in shaping the programs and opportunities we create.
